Instead of a cake we had a chocolate sculpture filled with truffles that we smashed, including chocolate tigers. It was so much fun. Andy’s dad runs a suit shop, Aults of Bolton, and very kindly gifted Andy a suit and provided the rest of the groomsman with theirs. Andy chose a navy suit, with a silver-grey waistcoat as a nice contrast to the rest of the group. We had an afternoon tea for our main meal, which was super-relaxed. We then had food trucks for the rest of the day allowing guests to help themselves whenever they were hungry. Options included a taxi serving pizza and hot dogs, and a cocktail van. My dress, by Justin Alexander, featured vintage beading and Chantilly lace, which I loved. It felt very romantic yet dramatic thanks to the sparkles. I was super-lucky to fit into the sample that the shop was selling that day! “I loved my dress, but it was very heavy and hot for a summer wedding, since it was chosen for our original autumn wedding date. I’d advise brides to take this into account and have a back up for the evening.” The bridesmaids wore grey dresses with touches of sparkle and different necklines. REAL WEDDINGS 59
