Your Kent Wedding - January/February 2022 (Issue 100)

It’s unlikely the day will go exactly as planned so just don’t sweat the small stuff, embrace the chaos and enjoy every minute because it really does go quicker than you could imagine. The cake was incredible, we even had a vegan lemon drizzle layer to cater for all of the guests. I wore Jodie by Rebecca Ingram. The simplicity of it accentuated my facial features and complemented my small frame. Other dresses were a bit too fussy and drowned me so this was the perfect find. I loved the large train and opted for a long veil. Our suppliers helped to manage the day, in particu lar our photographer and videographer. Our bridesmaids and groomsmen als o came to the rescue on multiple occasions, setting up the ceremony room la st minute for us and dealing with a leak in the barn roof due to heavy rain. We didn’t know about any of it until it was all over. As the barn has an open industrial roof we decided to run with an urban/ industrial theme, so a lot of our props were made from copper pipe. This influenced the décor further and we opted for personalised copper coasters with names as favours, copper hoops adorned with flowers for the centrepieces and then threw in pops of pink and blue where we could to complement that. Mike dressed in a blue checked suit with a grey waistcoat, as did the best man. The groomsmen and dads wore the same too, but with blue waistcoats. Mike’s tie was shaped differently to make him stand out. REAL WEDDING 47
