Steve proposed on Christmas day three years later in front of the kids and the bride’s mum. Our welcome sign, table plan and table numbers all tied in with our theme. Our centrepieces were large glass vases that were so pretty. We just added some dusky rose flowers to match our wedding theme. We brought personalised mini-wooden noughts and crosses as well as ring toss for the tables, which were such cute keepsakes. I’m not the most confident person and felt self-conscious about walking down the aisle. As soon as I saw Steve, my worries melted away. We visited Elmers Court Hotel a few years ago for a spa night, and booked the property immediately after revisiting. The team were so helpful and offered great packages! We aimed to enjoy every second of the day when planning the wedding. 28
Our magician Colin Phillips was terrific! He had everyone laughing and floored by his tricks. Blake Entertainment provided a DJ and photo booth; both were big hits with guests. My bridesmaids wore floor-length dresses in dusky pink. I wore a designer dress from Avenue 51 Bridal, which I adored! Steve and my son Jacob wore ivory waistcoats, while the groomsmen wore grey and pink ties. We dotted around smaller vases full of flowers, along with fairylights and balloons to bring everything together. 29 REAL WEDDINGS
We bought a new caravan last year as we love going away to the New Forest, so this seemed the most fitting thing to do for our honeymoon. We just spent a long weekend at our favourite campsite eating fantastic food from the butchers, walking the dog and relaxing! My son Jacob was emotional due to being so happy and was in tears after the ceremony. He had been so excited leading up to the day that Steve would become his legal stepdad. Seeing each other down the aisle was the most special part of the day! Having all our loved ones there on the day was just amazing. Steve was very nervous about the speech, but he relaxed once that was out of the way. I was so happy throughout the wedding; I was on cloud nine and didn’t want the day to end!
