Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - March/April 2022 (Issue 91)

Q&A Beauty Local experts on latest looks for spring brides BRIDAL TLC My beauty routine lapsed over the winter and my hair and skin has really suffered. I need to get back on track in time for my wedding in April. What beauty treatments would you suggest? Melissa says: Winter can take its toll on your skin not only by being out in the cold, wet and windy weather, but spending more time indoors with the central heating on. All these things tend to have a drying effect so your complexion can start to look parched and dull. Here are a few pointers to help: ❤ Firstly, re-evaluate your skincare routine. You may need products for dry skin through the winter, such as facial oils, which can give your skin an extra moisture boost and nourishment when used before your night time or daytime moisturiser. ❤ Use a facial scrub once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and leave you with a smoother, softer more radiant feel. ❤ Using a mask once or twice a week can also help to rejuvenate your complexion. Choose one to suit your skin type, you may need to use two and multi-task by applying a hydrating mask over your cheeks for example and a charcoal one over your T-zone to draw out any blackheads and impurities for a healthier glow. ❤ Your skin also reflects what you eat and drink. Including more fruit and vegetables in your diet works from the inside out to help make it look fresher and healthier. ❤ Book a consultation with a beautician to discuss your concerns. You may need some extra products or treatments with targeted support to see a marked improvement. Gabrielle says: Fresh, dewy skin with a glowing finish will be key for spring weddings. It’s all about enhancing your natural beauty to be the best version of you with the right skincare and beauty products to reflect your style. One of the most important steps is your skincare, which I’d recommend you look into now and start as soon as possible. Finding an experienced make-up artist who can work with your skin type to make your base look flawless, fresh and glowing all day, is also key. While for the rest of the make-up, the trend is very minimal, eyes seem to be getting bolder with more brides opting for cat eyes created with eyeliner, outer corner eyelashes or eyeshadow. Spring doesn’t mean you have to stick to pale pastel colours either. The trend this year seems to be leaning more towards brighter tones such as hot pink and orange hues with a touch of shimmer on the eyes. Done correctly, this can look gorgeous and will really open up your eyes and complement the glowing base make-up.
