Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - March/April 2021 (Issue 85)
50 L ooking for an alternative style for your wedding? This laid-back elopement shoot has plenty to inspire, combining a romantic mix of chilled boho vibes, retro touches and green credentials. Great for free-spirited couples and a funky festival feel, the natural beauty of the Purbecks in the Dorset Countryside provided the perfect setting. “The theme was inspired by LA folk bands of the 1970s and the aim was to show that sustainable weddings can be beautiful too,” says coordinator Zoe Harvey from Dorset-based Borrow the Moon. The Gabrielle dress from sustainable bridalwear brand Indie Bride London fitted the theme perfectly with ’70s-inspired sleeves and lace details. “We loved the idea of mixing it up and having a short dress for a more free-spirited, carefree look,” Zoe adds. The flowers by Dorset-based Maia Sellen Foral Designs combined bold jewel-like tones with key colour pops of coral and orange. The props were all vintage or handmade from reclaimed materials. “I was inspired by the bohemian aesthetic but in a more retro way,” explains Zoe. “Boho lounge areas are very on trend right now and are a great for photographs. We used vintage bamboo chairs with a Persian rug, sheepskins and floral arrangements in glass vases to add colour. We also had a handmade dip-dye macramé backdrop hanging from a tree as an extra cool feature.”
