Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - November/December 2020 (Issue 83)

83 EXPERT ADVICE Q&A Local experts on seasonal good looks BEAT THE CHILLS We’re getting married next October and I haven’t a clue where to start when it comes to my bridal make-up. What are your top tips? Caroline says: This time of year can be tricky as the cold weather can cause problems for your skin which in turn may make your make-up look tired. To beat the chills, start by exfoliating well once a week and use a rosehip oil at night, Trilogy is fabulous to really make your skin smile! It’s a really powerful product containing lycopene and beta-carotene that helps improve a dull lacklustre appearance and scaring, plumping skin cells to make your complexion more radiant. For your make-up, eye palettes include bejewelled tones, very soft and shimmery to create brighter bigger eyes. Colours for autumn include soft orange and pink shades combining subtle earth-like brown tones in the outer corners and a pop of gold on the inner to really make your eyes pop! Caroline Swaffield | Make-up artist | www.amazing-face.co.uk We’ve had to postpone our summer wedding and are now getting married in the winter, so I need to rethink my look. What would you suggest? Christiana says: For me winter is all about the colours. I love a warm woodland theme with fresh pine and deep shades of red and gold. Alternatively icy crisp blue and silver tones work well for this time of year. You could even opt for a Game of Thrones inspired long tumbling braid like the Mother of Dragons character. These are a firm favourite for a modern yet soft and elegant look. Both of these colour schemes provide amazing options for hairstyles and accessories. For the woodland theme you can choose from an array of fresh floral slides, combs and crowns or simply ask your stylist to add flowers to your hair. For both the styles pictured the flowers were prepared by the florist for me to include as the finishing touch. I placed them just above where the veil was going to create a completely bespoke look. For soft whimsical braids, a vine is great woven through the plait or just add a few beautiful pins or fresh seasonal blooms to suit your style.
