Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - July/August 2020 (Issue 81)
Award-winning Creatiques of Southsea (www.creatiques.co.uk) is excited to be welcoming brides back to their newly revamped boutique. If you’re dreaming of a summer wedding by the coast, owner Rob Pearce suggests: “When choosing your gown keep in mind the weight and fabric, try and pick a light chiffon, tulle or organza, not only lovely and cool to wear, but easier to pack and transport if you’re travelling to your destination the night before. Keep the train to a minimum, especially if you’re planning a trip to the beach for just-wed shots. Remember comfortable shoes or sandals too. We’d also suggest wearing your hair up to keep you cool and your style is less likely to drop if the weather’s hot.” SKIN DEEP Establishing a good skincare routine early on is one of the most important steps towards achieving a flawless bridal look. Specialist Lynne Henderson (www.naturalskinbylynne.co.uk) re commends: ❤ Start as soon as you can as it takes six to eight weeks for your skin to adjust to a new routine and longer to tackle any serious issues. ❤ Use a cleanser daily and light exfoliation to help clear pores, lift dirt, grease and dead skin cells. ❤ Nourish with a good day serum and use a moisturiser for hydration to help your complexion stay plump and youthful looking, ideally one with SPF to help protect against harmful UVA/UVB rays. ❤ Follow with an eye cream to help protect this delicate area. ❤ Don’t skip the night time routine, always remove your make-up – even if you’re tired! It will help to avoid damage and premature ageing of your skin. Use a repairing night cream/serum to help. ❤ A good diet, drinking plenty of water, and getting enough sleep are key factors for a healthy complexion. Stress can cause unexpected skin problems and you may suffer from breakouts, especially around the T-zone, but don’t worry; this is all normal and can be easily controlled with the correct routine. If you do have the odd blemish or shadow under your eyes on the wedding morning, don’t fret, it can easily be rectified. Psst... Lynne offers all her brides a free skincare consultation to help with any specific needs and is currently offering free bridal make-up trials too for all new enquiries. RING READY All the essential hand washing and disinfecting over recent months has certainly taken its toll on our hands. To help get you back on track for the all-important just-wed ring photos, Natasha Wiggins (www.nwmake-up.co.uk) shares her three-point plan. 1. Anti bac can make your nails weak so the best thing to do is keep them short for a while and as they grow cut them back to help strengthen them. Massage nail oil into the cuticles and whole nail. Most of these oils contain vitamin E which will help make them less brittle. 2. Rub in some hand cream and for extra protection finish off with a nail hardening polish. 3. If you’re looking for a more intensive treatment, once a week put some massage or coconut oil on your hands and then layer on some rich hand cream, wrap them in tin foil and leave for 15 minutes. Remove the tin foil and rub in any remaining product. Your hands will feel super soft again and it works for feet too!
