Your Hampshire & Dorset Wedding - Mar/Apr 2020 (Issue 79)
48 We got married in the gorgeous Orangery, followed by drinks in the walled garden and then had a marquee on the lawn for dinner and dancing. My dress wasn’t at all what I thought I wanted. Originally I was looking for something simple and ended up with a huge princess gown! The shoes were vital as the number I own is a bit of a running joke! The ones I chose incorporated my favourite glitter as well as superheroes which Pete loves. Pete and his groomsmen wore matching morning suits with double-breasted waistcoats and they all had bright yellow socks. I wore my mum’s veil which I had lightened to match my dress. We both love gardens and light open spaces and when we walked around Houghton Lodge we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding. My bridesmaids came to my house for a weekend to try on lots of different dresses, which we’d ordered beforehand, and to enjoy tea, cake and champagne; something I’d definitely recommend!
