Your Hampshire & Dorset Wedding - Jan/Feb 2020 (Issue 78)

87 EXPERT ADVICE NATURAL BEAUTY Wendy says: The year ahead will be full of boho and modern styles, think flowing beachy waves and colourful flower crowns, textured unstructured but neat updos with volume and sparkly accessories. Demand for vegan and cruelty-free make-up brands will continue, as well as naturally pretty shades with a colour pop on the lips. The emphasis will be on creating a more enhanced version of you, rather than masking your natural beauty with heavy make-up. Glamorous Hollywood waves and luscious red lips will still be going strong for that gorgeous classic look. Lashes are always important, nothing too heavy though, more natural clusters or strip ones to really make your eyes pop on camera! Instead of the sparkly oily looking highlighters, brides are loving a fresh rosy glow, using a cream blush for a pop of colour rather than powder for that fresh bridal radiance.  Eyes are bright and barely there again with bronzed pinky neutral undertones which really complement any eye. Gently brushed fluffy brows are here to stay, giving a softer more modern boho vibe to frame the face.  When it comes to the hair, from the trials we’ve done so far, we’re seeing still more of the messy easy-care, minimal-maintenance, low back bun, with soft twists, long sweeping tendrils loosely unstructured, just carelessly tossed up in a very modern way! We’ll be seeing more hair vines which can be twisted into tousled curled locks, half-up, half-down, twisted into a loose boho plait or just elegantly placed on an updo. Fresh flowers in the hair were massive on the autumn bridal catwalks; the bigger the better! Personally I love this look, whether it’s a simple sprig of gypsophilia tucked into a plait or twist, the same flowers as your bouquet or ones to complement your wedding theme. Flowers are great for adding a matching or contrasting touch to your hairstyle. They not only look pretty but make your style personal to you; perfect for a low messy updo with soft tendrils curled around the face. Ribbons and bows are also making waves and can add an elegant touch to a simple low ponytail.
