84 W hen the Bridport Electric Palace contacted Dorset-based photographer Emily Johns about a photo shoot to celebrate its new wedding licence allowing couples to marry on stage, she was excited! Set in the heart of the county, the 1920s theatre offered the perfect platform for local creatives to pull off a stunning curtain raiser. “The brief was simple, ‘you can do anything you want, as long as it’s a celebration of wedding suppliers in Dorset’ – anything immediately became my new favourite word,” says Emily. From the get-go, it was never going to be anything other than extraordinary; the stage commands theatrics and that’s what they delivered. Inspired by the colours of the elaborate murals in the auditorium, Emily and her talented local team, created a look filled with opulence, grandeur and excitement, including stunning dresses, a decadent cake, rich colours, spotlights, a jazz singer, aerial acrobats, glitter and pizzazz; everything you would want from a day at the theatre and more!
