Your Hampshire & Dorset Wedding - Nov/Dec 2019 (Issue 77)

REAL WEDDINGS 47  Kym, my maid-of-honour, wore a two-piece skirt and blouse while my bridesmaid Zowie had a blue full- length jumpsuit and white Converse. One of my flowergirls had sparkly shoes and the other wore her favourite boots. “The aim of the day was for everyone to feel relaxed and comfortable so there was no strict dress code.” The dusky blue and blousy hedgerow-style florals included sweet peas as my nanny Joyce always had them in her garden and would pick a stem for the kitchen windowsill. Everyone was part of the party so we had one long table. We went on honeymoon to Bali before the wedding and brought back gifts of incense, traditional beadwork and crafts to give our guests as favours. We decorated the table with floral candles from Bali, a set of three wise monkeys and gold floral cut-out placements. “We wanted to include things with meaning to us, with a low environmental impact and that could be used again in our day-to-day life.” The cake complemented our dusky blue and gold colour scheme and included a silhouette of a couple on a love swing.
