Your Hampshire & Dorset Wedding - Sep/Oct 2019 (Issue 76)
Carina Maylam sees romance and femininity as key. Here she shares her industry insight and top trend forecasts: ❤ Bows, bows and more bows! These are definitely in for 2020, at waist level both in front and behind with trailing sashes all the way to the ground or at the back of the neck, also with trailing sashes. ❤ Flowers in stunning natural colours, with touches of green and gold for leaves and stems. Flower motives set in crystal appliqué adding stunning showstopping backs to the dresses. ❤ Romantic draped sleeves. ❤ Jumpsuits and two-pieces. ❤ Megan Markle simplicity is still very much in but with plenty of detail on the back as well as crepe, tulle, Grace Kelly satins and mikado silk. ❤ Lace is around as always. This time it’s full lace or as appliqué over full skirts or the tops of dresses. ❤ Silhouettes are the thing, whether in full and flowing tulles, in pastels, especially the palest blush pink or figure-hugging crepes with cut- out side detailing and the option to tone down the sheerness with detachable linings in nude or ivory. ❤ Corset tops with a bustier front, one-sided and dropped shoulders are on trend. Long trains are always a favourite and horse-hair edges on tulle skirts giving a layering effect are still very much in. ❤ Full-length wedding dresses are still the most popular however the tea-length has made a come back this season. The simple chiffon fit-and-flare dresses can be accessorised with a belt or jewellery to add extra glam. Uber-subtle bling under skirts are coming through as well; highly but subtly sequinned with lace appliqué top layers for sparkle that glistens as you move.” For the forthcoming season’s statement looks they suggest: ❤ We’re seeing a lot of sparkly gowns with crystal diamanté bodices and fuller skirts on the catwalk for the new season. ❤ Colour is featured too, with ombre and also black and ivory. ❤ Leading Brand Mark Lesley Bridalwear also shows that diamanté and crystal will be very strong for next season.
