Your Hampshire & Dorset Wedding - May/June 2019 (Issue 74)

100 BRIDAL PREP Help! Where do I start when it comes to sorting out my wedding hair and make-up, I’ve no idea what it entails? Sally says: Here are my top tips to help you prepare and find the right stylist to suit you: ❤ Ask around for recommendations and then check for yourself. Read reviews, ask questions about their qualifications, experience, what make-up brands they use and if they’re insured. ❤ Show your stylist pictures of how you’d like to look but also keep an open mind. You may be convinced you want an up do but fall in love with tumbling curls instead. ❤ Ideally have a trial around eight to 12 weeks before the big day and take your hair accessories and veil along too. ❤ Wear something light, white or ivory as bridal hair and make-up looks very different with a bright red stripy top! ❤ Try to coincide your trial with a dress fitting. That way you’ll get a good idea of the overall effect. ❤ Even if you’re growing your locks, have a regular trim with a trusted hairdresser. ❤ Start a regular skincare routine and be sure to cleanse your skin twice a day, particularly when removing make-up, followed by a good quality moisturiser. Drink plenty of water and try to get as much beauty sleep as you can! ❤ Last but not least, make sure your chosen stylist has your wedding date in their diary as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Many get booked up months or even years in advance, particularly during the busy wedding season. What would you suggest that’s pain-free and non-invasive? Leanne says: I often work with brides-to-be months and sometimes years in advance of the wedding day to get their skin in tip-top condition. If time is tight and you need a quick instant boost, my go-to solution is a HydraTight combination treatment. With HydraFacial Skin Health For Life and an Exilis Elite Radio Frequency skin-tightening facial, you can expect immediate results. The benefits include improvement of fine lines and wrinkles and tighter-looking skin, with all the advantages of a HydraFacial for a cleaner, plumper and super glossy complexion. A course of four weekly treatments, provides the best outcome, however a one-off session can still deliver a beautiful result. There’s no downtime, irritation or pain involved either. Leanne Hawkins | Skincare specialist lifeshouldbebeautiful.co.uk BOHO BEAUTIFUL We’re having a chilled summer festival-style wedding. What would you suggest for my bridal look that’s natural, easy to wear yet still different and beautiful? Fiona says: Weddings are taking on a more relaxed vibe, gaining inspiration from the wild and romantic vibes of nature. This is echoed in the natural skin theme we’ve been seeing over the past year. Barely-there make-up, with soft hues on the eyes to emphasise their true colour, teamed with luxurious realistic lashes, work wonders for most brides. Don’t be afraid of using colour on your lids; soft mauve and pink shades make blue eyes really pop, while champagne and touches of plum or burgundy are great for brown eyes. Pair with a bold lip colour, such as deep berry for added drama to break the rules, or soft peach pink for those who prefer a more daytime look. With the latest boho hair trends there really are no restrictions, so be daring, bold and original. Plaits have always been in style but this year we’re seeing multiple braids or even statement plaited hair crowns! Texture is the buzzword and can come in all kind of forms including plaits, knots, twists, what’s more even fine locks can have great texture! Perfectly imperfect curls is another hot look and is a style that looks really natural yet requires a lot of preparation behind the scenes – great teamed with a flower or foliage crown. When it comes to flower crowns, the size really just depends on how bold and brave you want to be. Flowers and foliage can also be woven into hairstyles for totally bespoke designs. Hair vines are going to be huge again too and working them into a loose plaited do, when done well, looks relaxed and beautiful.
