Your Hampshire & Dorset Wedding - May/June 2019 (Issue 74)

SAY CHEERS! Roll up, roll up for all the fun of the big day! The Dorset Cart Company is on a mission to bring all things sweet and quaffable to your wedding in a fresh and alternative way. The newly launched business has been set up by Jennie Langridge and partner Richenda Kerley after they struggled to find the kind of cart they wanted for a friend’s celebration. “As we both have a background in woodwork, we decided to build our own. A couple of weeks later and we’d planned a whole business which was so much more than your average sweet cart!” explains Jen. Their fleet covers everything from boozy carts for gin, prosecco and whisky, all full to the brim with fresh garnishes and mixers, to cheese supplied from Dorset farms complete with local artisan chuntneys, luxury hot chocolate with all the trimmings, as well as a hard-to- resist doughnut cart; packed full of sourdough treats from Glazed in Bournemouth. “We have tried to find the very best suppliers and we can customise each one to suit your theme,” adds Jen. Covering the whole of Dorset, the carts are dropped off and picked up from your venue, so you don’t have to worry. Happy birthday Newcomer to the local wedding scene Mary Cox is set to celebrate her first anniversary at the helm of Twirl Bridal & Dress Boutique in Petersfield. Mary took over the business in June last year after buying her own wedding dress there in 2016. She’d been working in secondary education for 20 years and was looking for a change of direction. Following the loss of her mum and dad within seven months of each other, she discovered the business was up for sale and bought it. “I wanted to turn a very sad time into something positive and knew that my parents would have approved. I now have a lovely picture of them on their wedding day hanging up in the boutique.” Since taking over, she’s modernised the interior of the shop, keeping a vintage boutique vibe, rebranded, attended wedding fairs and even ran the fashion show at her first one. “It’s been a lot of fun and it’s always a delight helping brides to find their dream dress,” she adds.
