Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - November/December 2024 (Issue 107)

This elegant and modern-styled shoot featured showstopping details Images courtesy of Katherine Newman Photography Coastal elegance The Guildhall has been accommodating weddings for many years. However, it had become a little forgotten amongst the local community in recent years and needed an update. Hence, Lyme Regis Town Council decided it was time to enhance the offering to couples and to incorporate a styled shoot to ‘re-launch’ The Guildhall to the community as a local wedding venue able to hold its own amongst its contenders. Once an ‘as is’ venue mainly used for weekly council meetings, with only red fabric chairs and nothing else on offer besides the beautiful views and superb location, there wasn’t really anything else drawing couples to book. But the new wedding packages offer couples the option of beautiful white chair covers and sashes, a dried flower table centrepiece with a table runner and additional extras to hire, such as LED candles and fairylights. It’s possible for couples coming from out of town to be married in Lyme Regis because of its sentimental location, with a seamless option to have a fully decorated wedding venue with hardly any effort from themselves to coordinate their big day. Not only does The Guildhall now transform into the most beautiful, traditional wedding venue with far-reaching views of the Jurassic Coastline, but couples are also now able to access exclusive discounts with local wedding suppliers of Lyme Regis’s star businesses. The first step for the shoot was to purchase all the items that would be available to hire as part of the packages. Once the items had all arrived, the next step was to reach out to local wedding suppliers who wanted to be involved in the day and gain exposure. The team was lucky enough to source some wonderful models through the Chard Ladies RFC, who were brilliant on the day! They were also lucky enough to be able to shoot inside the Lyme Regis Museum, located directly next door to The Guildhall. The museum offers couples the opportunity to have their photos taken there after 5 pm, at certain times of the year, which is a unique opportunity. This is why they used the museum as a second location in the styled shoot; this would only be available to couples getting married at The Guildhall. Kate Newman, the Community Engagement Assistant at Lyme Regis Town Council, comments, “We’re absolutely thrilled with the outcome of this shoot and the collaboration amongst the local businesses who were phenomenal at bringing everything together. We hope that by seeing these images, couples can visualise this historic building as the perfect backdrop for their big day!” 51 REGIONAL SHOOT
