Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - July/August 2024 (Issue 105)

Hampshire is definitely one of my favourite locations to discover, thanks to the wide range of attractions, from beautiful coastlines to expansive countryside, charming villages and rich historical architecture. I was delighted when the Tylney Hall team invited me to experience this iconic location. As part of Elite Hotels, a group known for its unique and luxurious properties, I knew this visit would be extraordinary! SETTING THE SCENE The enchanting driveway with majestic redwood trees led us to a luxurious country house within 66 acres of stunning parkland and gardens in Hook, North Hampshire. This remarkable property was originally a private residence and served many purposes throughout its history, including a school and hospital. After an extensive refurbishment to restore the spaces to its former glory, the property reopened in 1985. As soon as we arrived, we were transported to a bygone era as the Victorian venue blended grandeur and elegance with modern amenities. REST YOUR HEAD After being greeted by the friendly reception team, we leisurely strolled around the grounds and reached our Garden Suite with direct access to the Kitchen Garden and Walled Gardens. The recently refurbished setting had a warm, sophisticated atmosphere with contemporary furnishings and a calming colour scheme. The grand period windows allowed plenty of natural light and views over the gardens. The room was equipped with all the essentials needed for a comfortable stay, including a table and chairs, plush sofas, a dressing area, a flat-screen TV and a modern bathroom with a shower stocked with premium toiletries and soft bathrobes. The upscale amenities, stylish décor and tranquil environment made our visit unforgettable, creating the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing and delightful experience. FOOD FOR THOUGHT The Oak Room Restaurant, under the guidance of Executive Head Chef Mike Lloyd, offers a creative twist on British cuisine. With a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients, each dish is a masterpiece. The restaurant had a luxurious ambience, elegant décor, soft lighting and stunning views. Our well-informed waiter expertly guided us through the sophisticated menu. For the starter, I couldn’t resist the rolled game terrine with pickled shimeji, burnt clementine gel, sourdough crumb and watercress – it was absolutely divine! This was followed by a mouthwatering black truffle risotto featuring truffle fermented rice, crème fraiche, parmesan and chive. After such a satisfying meal, we enjoyed a selection of light sorbets before making our way to the newly refurbished Library Bar, where we relaxed and savoured some expertly crafted cocktails. The following morning, we were treated to a delightful breakfast spread, offering various continental options and a range of hot dishes. The vegetarian breakfast was a delight, with sausage, scrambled eggs, grilled tomato, mushrooms, hash browns and baked beans. The exceptional service during breakfast truly sets this Hotel apart from others. ACTIVITIES FOR ALL At Tylney Hall, guests can enjoy a wide range of activities catering to both relaxation and adventure – there’s something for everyone! The estate offers outdoor activities, such as archery and clay pigeon shooting, and a nearby golf club for enthusiasts. The top-notch wellness facilities include a heated outdoor pool, treatment rooms and a well-equipped gym. Guests can also try their hand at croquet or unwind in the period lounges with afternoon teas. What we loved most was exploring the expansive grounds during our walks, soaking up the stunning views. EXCHANGING VOWS Tylney Hall is the perfect venue for unforgettable weddings with beautiful landscapes and various settings to discover. Whether you’re planning a civil partnership or a blessing, the venue can accommodate both large and intimate gatherings.
