Book a trial around three to four months before your wedding day. This gives plenty of time to think about your look and ensure you’re happy with everything. It also allows for time to fit another trial in, which occasionally brides want. If your make-up artist gives you advice to help improve your skin before the wedding day, then the extra time can also be helpful as products always look better on good skin. This would also mean enough notice if you needed to grow your hair a little longer. It’s worth bearing in mind that make-up artists and hairstylists are very busy during the summer with weddings, so trials often need to be booked early to accommodate them all. Most brides are happy to have a trial sooner rather than later to see how they’ll look on the wedding day. They love seeing the finished result, and it helps them feel excited for the big day. An earlier trial gives them peace of mind and helps avoid sleepless nights worrying about hair and make-up. If you have a separate make-up artist and hairstylist, try to arrange your trials on the same day to see your finished look. Melinda Hollis | Makeovers By Melinda www.makeoversbymelinda.co.uk PRE-WEDDING NERVOUS I’m getting married this summer; how can I ensure a stress-free wedding morning? Pick a wedding venue that allows you to get ready on-site with great light and some tables set up ready for your stylists to start immediately to save time in the morning. This is especially important with larger parties, or if venues don’t let us on-site until 9am and you have an early ceremony! Ensure you arrive slightly ahead of time to be ready for your allotted slots for hair and make-up. Please don’t be late and try to get children looked after as they can also become stressed with everything going on, demanding time that’s not spare in the morning. Please exchange gifts or romantic declarations of love the night before or early in the morning to prevent tears, red eyes and smudging. Once make-up is done, time is precious if a touch-up is needed. We don’t want to be a killjoy, but you’ll thank us when those fabulous photos arrive. Another good tip for a stress-free wedding morning is to steam dresses the night prior or at least before you apply hair and make-up. This stops hair from dropping due to the humidity and make-up from sliding, as there’s often no time to redo anything due to tight timing. You should all aim to be ready about an hour before you leave so you have time to get dressed (know how long this takes beforehand), drink some fizz and take some photos. These tiny tips will make your wedding morning comfortable and stress-free for all. Caroline Swaffield | Amazing Face Bridal Make-up and Hair www.amazing-face.co.uk 82
