HOT TOPIC Top advice for the perfect wedding ACCESSORISE AND SHINE I’m struggling to find jewellery for my wedding day with the number of options out there. What top tips can you share when it comes to finding the perfect pieces? Consider the style of wedding ring you’re looking for, whether you’d like a plain band, one with gemstones or even something completely bespoke. A bespoke ring is a great option to match and fit around your engagement ring seamlessly, and it can be a fantastic opportunity to express your style. Always consider your partner’s band too and if you’d like the metals and styles to coordinate. Wearing a piece with sentimental value is a wonderful option for a momentous occasion, whether it’s a borrowed piece or something remodelled from an older jewellery item such as a family heirloom. If you’re buying new jewellery, go for classic pieces that can be used again after the wedding. A pendant or simple pair of earrings can be worn forever and always remind you of the magical day. It’s essential to choose something comfortable and make sure you’ve worn the pieces previously in case any adjustments are needed. If the global pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that we need to adapt and create alternatives to not only our daily lives, but for weddings as well. When it comes to finding the perfect cake for your intimate wedding, you might be trying to figure out how it can pack a punch and wow the crowd. I recently created a trio of beautiful single tier cakes for a wedding with 15 guests consisting of three families. This allowed each family to devour their cake there and then or take it away to enjoy later. These beautiful bakes each featured a vibrant pink sugar peony, foliage and a gorgeous, oversized silk ribbon which matched the bride’s outfit. Another option is creating a cake display with stem flowers in bud vases, a coloured cake stand or something elaborate and unusual. Last summer, I styled a botanical- themed wedding cake with a hoop and stand covered in foliage which sat on an awesome mobile bar! As the weather starts to cool and we move on from summer weddings, I love to add the depth of colour and texture into my designs. Flowers set within a variety of foliage and herbs such as rosemary and berries are becoming popular. Here are a few ideas that would work well for the time of year… Hypericum berries are available in a wide range of colours from white to almost black and add a touch of autumn to any colour scheme. Chamelaucium (waxflower) is a delicate flower with small berry like buds which give a hint of the changing season. Berried eucalyptus and ferns are a firm favourite of mine to soften designs. Deep-coloured roses sit well with blush tones and cymbidium orchids. Dahlias, big blousy blooms, add a touch of drama and Eryngium thistles are perfect for texture.
