Your Herts and Beds Wedding - October/November 2020 (Issue 82)
WEDDING BBF What are the benefits of having a wedding planner for our special day? A wedding planner will be able to help in so many ways at your wedding, from the set-up to being at your side for whatever’s needed. The most significant result of our job is allowing you to relax and enjoy the day while leaving all the behind-the-scenes and stress for us. We can deal with the million and one questions that appear at every wedding, round guests up and fend off the family so you can have a few moments to yourselves. If you’ve left something in another part of the venue, we’ll find it. We can bring reassurance and peace- of-mind with our box of tricks (full of pins and tape of every sort), our wealth of experience and our calming ways which are second to none. Vikki Richman | Your Wedding Friend www.yourweddingfriend.co.uk DRESSED TO IMPRESS I want to look similar to my groomsmen at our wedding but still stand out. How can I achieve this? A smart and coordinated look is something ever couple wants for their wedding party, but the groom must stand out against his groomsmen just as the bride will stand out against her bridesmaids. One way to achieve this, especially if you all want to wear the same suits, is for you to choose a very distinctive waistcoat. To help keep the groomsmen a little more in the background, choose waistcoats that either match their suits or ones that are plainer or darker. A similar effect can be achieved with neckwear by wearing a cravat whilst they have a tie in the same colour - or wear a patterned tie whilst theirs are plain. Try giving them a pocket square that matches your patterned tie to look coordinated but still maintain your style. If you’re feeling confident, choose a check or patterned suit for yourself and then a plain but similar colour for your party. This works even if you all wear the same tie and waistcoat. Sharon Cousans | Chimney Formal Menswear | www.chimneymenswear.co.uk THE PERFECT DAY I’m looking for a wedding venue for our big day, what advice can you share with us to make the process easier? Choosing a wedding venue is so exciting and there’s lots to choose from. We’d recommend checking out wedding venues online first, and exploring the style you might like for the big day. Be open-minded as there are so many options out there! Don’t forget to check out the venue’s social media too as there will be lots of photos and insight to give you a feel of the venue. Make a shortlist of the places you’d like to visit and contact them for a chat about your plans and make an appointment to look around. It’s really important to see a venue in person if you can. We recommend you visit as many as possible to find a space that’s a perfect fit for your day and gives you a good comparison of what’s on offer at different places. It’s a good time to think about whether you want to hold both your ceremony and reception at your chosen location or whether you want to get married at a church or registry office first. Check out the venue’s different ceremony options and ask if they offer ceremonies inside and outside depending on the weather and the time of year. Finally, think about what’s most important to you! Is that the style of the venue, the choice of indoor and outdoor spaces, gorgeous gardens for photos, the wedding food or the ceremony options? With a little research, you’ll be sure to find a venue that’s perfect for you and ticks all your boxes!
