Discover top hair and beauty advice LOOKING YOUR BEST While couples inevitably want to look their ultimate big-day best, worries will inevitably surface in the run up to the wedding. Our beauty experts help alleviate those fears and share their top advice! ENHANCE Katy Angelidi says: “Less is more when it comes to highlighting, you want to catch the light and placement is key. This product brings the area of the face forward, so add the highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones and use a gentle touch on your Cupid’s bow. Steer away from the centre of the face to avoid the greasy look on camera. I like to layer a subtle soft cream under foundation first and finish off buffing in a highlight with lustre, rather than shimmer or glitter.” THE ONE Polly Waghorn says: “An important part of achieving the perfect bridal look is choosing a hairstyle that complements the neckline of your wedding dress. A strapless neckline looks stunning with loose flowing locks or Hollywood waves. Curls are so versatile and can be worn soft around the face in a centre parting or a deep side parting with glamorous waves. “A boat neck is best paired with an updo with soft tresses around the face – this could be a textured bun or a classic chignon. For a high-neckline, the best option would be an updo. This could be a textured bun or soft curls loosely pinned up. The neckline is a prominent part of the design, so you want to make sure it’s visible. Whatever you do, always have a trial to make sure you choose the style that’s best for you and complements your dress.” Affection weddings THE PERFECT SHADE Katy Angelidi says: “I love using eyeshadow shades to make your eye colour pop. The one thing I try never to do is a match. If you were trying to sell a blue vase, you wouldn’t photograph it on blue cloth. For blue eyes, try warm champagne shades as well as dusky pinks, plums, bronzes and golds. “Green eyes work well with burgundy, purple and warm red-toned brown hues. If you’ve got brown eyes and think they’re boring, then look closer – you’ll see flecks of gold, amber, grey and green in there too. I love to use a rich navy shade with brown eyes instead of black or brown for an elegant and chic look.” www.chloeelyphotography.com BRIDAL BEAUTY 87
