Your Herts and Beds Wedding - August/September 2020 (Issue 81)
We used the flowers to tie in the colour themes by using various blue blooms within the bouquet, buttonholes and top table design to keep a splash of colour throughout. The bridesmaid had a long flowing dress with lace detail to tie in with my dress. As a girl who doesn’t dress up often, I loved how comfortable I felt in the dress. Seeing myself, it looked as if I was always meant to be wearing that gown; it fit perfectly with my figure and my personality. Choosing to have a banquet feast for the wedding breakfast meant rustic boxes were already being used to present the food, then we added hessian and laced runners to bring it all together. We used various small glass jars and vases to hold candles and flowers to add detail and keep the tone rustic and straightforward, but without overcrowding the tables. Wooden carved place settings were then used as a final detail. We had our cake made by a very talented family member. Luckily, a naked-style cake fit in with our theme perfectly. We used an informal, hessian topper to then tie the cake in with the rest of the room. Neil wore a three-piece suit in navy with an ivory tie and waistcoat, while the groomsmen wore all navy.
