Your Herts and Beds Wedding - June/July 2020 (Issue 80)

REAL WEDDINGS 33  I was so happy with how the dress not only looked but also the feel of it on was just perfect.” The shop also made the neckties for the groomsmen and went above and beyond to help in any way possible. The groom and groomsmen wore a blue suit with tailcoats and brown shoes, which went great with the colour theme. To stand out Devon wore a different coloured waistcoat and pocket square. Each bridesmaid wore sage green dresses, which also had some lace to match the bridal dress. TIME TO CELEBRATE To keep the celebrations going in the evening, the lovebirds went with a DJ who was recommended to them and had played at the venue before. Natalie says: “The DJ did a great job at keeping our guests on the dancefloor. In our invitations we asked people for a song request to play during the evening which was a nice touch as everyone was waiting for their song to be played. This also helped for some good variety in the types of music and dance moves throughout the evening disco.” MEMORABLE MOMENTS In the morning, Natalie was calm and relaxed about the day and had a lovely surprise waiting when she left her house. She says: “Devon and I had only just moved into our first home together so when it was time for me, my parents and the bridal party to leave, the road was full of our new neighbours waving us off wishing us luck, it was so sweet and kind of them all.” Natalie adds “Our favourite moment was once the vicar pronounced us as husband and wife for the first time, then we walked back down the aisle together and saw our family and friends – it was something we will never forget.” A moment that made the day extra special was the best man’s speech by Devon’s brother, which had the whole room laughing. A projector was used to share old and embarrassing photos, which everyone enjoyed seeing. Natalie comments; “Some home truths coming out in the speech posed for some entertaining stories and laughs from our families and friends. He spilt the beans on us and confirmed that we barely cook for ourselves, instead we go to my mum’s house most nights for dinner. So, he gave us a cookbook as part of his speech and I must admit we have used some of its recipes – it was worth the embarrassment.” The couple adds: “Our photographer, Martin, really helped make the day special for us, he made both of us feel at ease and special on the day. He was amazing at organising the whole wedding party throughout the day, which I’m sure as the day went on got harder and harder – he made it look easy.” HONEYMOON After the wedding the pair jetted off to Hawaii to celebrate together and took part in some amazing excursions in the jungle, went snorkelling, jet skied, kayaked, jumped off waterfalls and went to a luau.
