Your Herts and Beds Wedding - April/May 2020 (Issue 79)
In keeping with the décor of barn, the centrepieces were presented on tree trunks and consisted of tall jars filled with a floral display of pastel pinks and whites. Whilst looking around a few venues, we established that we were after something that was beautiful but not too traditional, and a barn seemed to fit the bill. When we first visited The Priory we couldn’t stop smiling, we remember turning to each other as we walked away and we both said at the same time – this is the one! The outdoor space was also amazing, really spacious and well kept. The owner John and wedding manager, Karen were so flexible and accommodating with all our requests and we were confident that everything would be managed on the day without a hitch. We had the table plan printed on a world map and placed an old-fashioned travelling trunk with travel guides in the bottom – each table was named after a country we’d visited together. Danielle’s mum made fudge for our favours presented them in little boxes with maps of the world to reflect our travel-theme. We also gave everyone a picnic can of drink to reflect our love of a party – it said, ‘Take a Can for Nic and Dan’. Our bouquets were also made from artificial flowers which meant we can keep them forever! Danielle’s mum is a great baker and made us the most amazing wedding cake. In keeping with the other decorative touches, she managed to make a cake that looked like tree trunk logs stacked on top of each other – it was incredible and tasted amazing. 44
