Katy has been a make-up artist for more than 23 years and runs her own company to help brides-to-be look their big-day best. Her style is known for being polished, timeless and flattering. Her incredible portfolio was judged by a panel of high-profile industry leaders after her clients’ testimonials were scored across several categories. Katy says: “Winning this award for the second year in a row has been an incredible experience. I don’t work for validation but knowing I won off the back of my clients’ testimonials as well as my portfolio of work gives me huge satisfaction. I’m so grateful to The Wedding Industry Awards as well as my wonderful customers.” With her amazing business and online tutorials getting more popular, Katy has launched a training academy for budding make-up artists. She says, “I set up MBK Pro Team to train other people wanting to work in the bridal make-up industry,” she explained. “It’s a great opportunity for me to pass on my knowledge and experience to others – not only about make-up but also the dos and dont’s of customer service and what to expect. It’s also an excellent way to expand my team of associate make-up artists so that I can collaborate and take on even more commissions in the future.” Find out more: makeupbykaty.com photographybyvivienneguy.co.uk Dress to impress Occasions For Less has relocated next to Cream of Royston to enable something for all budgets in one location. Sophie May Floral knows this is one of the best ways of keeping a memento from the big day, which is why the company now offers it as a service. The process starts from when the company receives the bouquet. The team take it apart and dry each flower for a few weeks and then add a cast in several layers of resin – once cured it’s taken out of the mould and left to stand. After this it’s sanded, finished and given to the couple to love forever. It's perfect for anyone involved in the wedding, such as a large piece for the bride and groom, a smaller piece for the mother-of-the-bride and jewellery to thank the bridesmaids or flowergirl. There’s also an option for the groom, with the company being able to make cufflinks made from the bride’s bouquet or from his buttonhole. This service gets booked up fast so if couples are thinking of doing, make sure to reserve a date.
