73 FLOWERS FLOWER Local experts help you discover beautiful florals and up-coming trends for your big day power Floral delights For me spring blooms are all about texture and fragrance. The season offers so much choice in colours and textures – it’s always a feast for the eyes. Seasonal trends include overflowing bridal bouquets with contrasting textures, plenty of asparagus ferns paired with tulips, ranunculi and hyacinths for sweet scents, complemented with beautiful trailing ribbons. This year we will see plenty of statement blooms but one of my favourite spring flowers is paper white – this delicate bloom’s underrated and just beautiful in this particular season. Kirsty Mcgilley | The Flower Mill the-flower-mill.co.uk In 2020, we will be seeing paler hues, whites, blushes and corals along with the on-trend use of bleached foliage. There’s a rise in using dried flowers and grass in bouquets and table arrangements such as pampas grass, dried lavender and roses. Brides are thinking of sustainability and want to use seasonal British- grown florals to enhance their wedding decorations. The arrangements used at the ceremony can even be brought to the reception. Expect to see the continued use of floral arches, moon gates and hanging installations, which always add a wow factor to any wedding. Couples seem to be steering away from the full foliage look with the addition of more flowers, dried or fresh, and again, different grasses and even feathers. Low aisle decorations are popular and look stunning at the side of the aisle to give the impression of walking through a field of flowers. On tables, tall arrangements on metallic stands will continue to be a feature mixed with increasingly popular low ones. These arrangements are composed of a selection of different containers bringing in a blend of textures such as glass, metallics and wood.
