Your Herts & Beds Wedding - October/November 2019 (Issue 76)

All the latest from around the region Nearlywed NEWS EDITOR, SARAH GALLIVAN INDULGES AT SOPWELL HOUSE’S NEW SPA I’ve been to Sopwell House once before and the facilities are second to none. I thought that the impeccable service offered, gorgeous wedding suites, fine cuisine and first-class accommodation couldn’t be topped but it has! Following a £14million investment, The Club at Cottonmill, the new state-of-the-art private members’ spa, has taken this venue to another level. When staying at Sopwell House you can access the swimming and vitality pools, rose relaxation room, steam room, sauna and gym but being a Club member, you’ll be able to indulge in the new development. That’s just what my husband and I did and what a treat it was. The indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pool leads out to the spa garden, created by award-winning garden designer, Ann-Marie Powell. We enjoyed a couple of gin and tonics whilst relaxing on a day bed followed by a soak in one of the hot tubs. Inside, we made the most of the thermal suite’s steam and sauna rooms and then went for our treatments. My husband’s incorporated the Amber and Quartz Crystal Bed, the first of its kind in a UK spa, and my 60-minute Vichy Shower treatment was amazing. We dined in The Pantry during the day adjacent to the spa and in the award-winning 2AA Rosette restaurant in the evening – the perfect example of fine dining. Our stay was finished with a stay in one of the Mews Suites. Originally an old stable block, this secluded oasis includes an infinity edged hydrotherapy pool in the centre and a choice of studio, one bedroom and duplex mews houses, each featuring country home features. Book it – Memberships are limited. Access to Cottonmill is available to hotel residents, and an upgrade to The Club is available at a supplemental charge. Spa day packages are also available for both.
