Your Herts & Beds Wedding - October/November 2019 (Issue 76)

REAL WEDDINGS 47  numbers were placed in silver holders and individual menus for each guest were placed on napkins at the place settings to tie everything together. Large pillar candles and blooms in glass jars surrounded the two-tiered cake and it was decorated with a simple single flower. “I saw the cake design on Pinterest and showed it to our cake supplier who did an amazing job of bringing it to life,” says Holly. Little bottles of homemade rhubarb gin were given to guests as favours and the sweet cart went down a storm. For the wedding breakfast guests were served a mixed platter to start followed by chicken wrapped in Parma ham and chocolate brownie and cheesecake to finish – during the evening they tucked into fish and chips. CLASS ACT During dinner, Ian Gomes, resident pianist in the Ritz Hotel London, played a selection of tunes and into the evening a DJ filled the dancefloor. “Ian played at Prince William and Kate’s wedding and was personal pianist to Frank Sinatra too. Our guests thought this was great,” she says. There were so many memorable moments but the ceremony stands out for Holly and Marc. “We chose the instrumental version of Use Somebody by Kings of Leon for me to walk down the aisle to. Everything was just perfect – the music, décor, our beautiful bridal party and groomsmen and I loved that my son walked down the aisle before me with the rings,” says Holly.
