Your Herts & Beds Wedding - October/November 2019 (Issue 76)

TOP TAILORING A lot of focus is put on the bride’s dress but my hubby-to-be wants the experience of finding a suit to be just as special. What are his options? Nigel says: A good tailor will spend time to make him feel a million dollars. True quality and style is all about the detail and at William Young 1876, our consultants guide grooms through the fabrics available and will help him to select the style and features of each item, using their experience and knowledge of tailoring. Whether it’s a classic or contemporary style, the options are endless. There’s a world of difference between a pre-made garment and one carefully created to your own individual specification – your fiancé’s dreams and ideas brought to reality. The key thing here is don’t compromise and make the most of this special experience. Meet the expert: Nigel Salisbury | Tailor | williamyoung1876.com Being in the tailoring business for more than 35 years Nigel has a wealth of knowledge and it gives him great pleasure to work with clients to create something extra special. MAKEOVER SOS I know the weather is out of our control but I’m worried about the rain ruining my hair and make-up. Do you have any advice? Lorna says: If rain’s forecast, ensure brollies are at your beck and call. If all hell breaks loose and a double dose of wind and rain is coming your way, ensure to get your artist to start out with well-secured neat hair; that way, if you want a looser style later, the rain won’t leave you looking like a distressed mess. I’m not one for overloading with product, but on bad weather days a little extra won’t hurt. In terms of make-up, try and use waterproof products around the eye area. Good skin prep, primers and setting sprays will be a saviour and rather than wiping away tears or rain, use dabbing motions with tissue to avoid smudging all that hard work to get you looking wedding ready. Meet the expert… Lorna Kings | Hair and make-up artist storyhairandmakeup.co.uk Lorna loves bringing your dress, accessories, hair and make-up together to achieve that special look for your big day. Capture it Our photographer’s asked us for a list of must-have shots prior to our big day. In your opinion what should we make sure we capture? Davina says: As well as the obvious couple shots there’s so much more to catch on film. Personally I love prep shots. I think capturing the day from start to finish enables you to document every detail and create a wonderful story. Be sure to take pictures of your details. Time and effort goes into choosing stationery, rings, flowers and shoes. I also advise my couples to have a copy of the invites in their room when getting ready so I can take some detailed shots.  Group shots aren’t the most fun but you’re capturing images for future generations to look back on. Make a list and have someone who knows everyone to assist the photographer to make it as quick as possible. During the evening I take a few shots of the dancefloor when everyone’s relaxed, happy and having fun.  Meet the expert: Davina Paterson | Photographer | imagebliss.co.uk Davina’s been in the industry for many years, working alongside photography as a retoucher and is said to have a calming effect on her couples. 108
