Your Herts & Beds Wedding - Jun/Jul 2019 (Issue 74)
68 GET THE BEST SOUND ON YOUR VIDEO “The challenge is getting as much audio as possible, without turning your wedding into a film set! Small recorders fit into the groom’s pockets easily, with a tiny microphone on the lapel. This allows great audio of the speech and using directional microphones will capture your guests cheering and laughing throughout the day,” says Rafe . “There’s a range of discrete recording systems out there,” adds Andreas . “These clip-on devices are becoming smaller and smaller as technology advances, making them less noticeable to the audience and less restricting.” GET THE EMOTION ACROSS IN YOUR FILM “The great thing about video is that you can add music to accentuate emotion, be it the nerves of the bride getting ready or the fun of the dancing. Tunes play such an important role in film. Trust your videographer with the music, and you won’t regret it,” says Rafe . “Adding slow motion and smooth transitions between scenes can also add to the cinematic feel of the piece,” says Andreas . DECIDE ON THE LENGTH OF VIDEO “Videos that I create tend to be between 10 to 15 minutes in length but it’s your film so it’s completely up to you,” says Andreas . “The length of the day itself, as well as what sort of package you might want, also makes a difference,” says Rafe . “I always recommend a three to five- minute highlight film alongside the longer version for sharing on social media. Modern cinematic videos will feel more like a story of your day, rather than the two-hour retro films of the 90s,” he adds. Video how to… CHOOSE YOUR VIDEO MUSIC “There are a number of online sources that provide copyright-free music that captures every kind of emotion,” says Andreas . “With the right melody, you barely notice it, but it draws you into the emotion,” says Rafe . “Get it wrong, and it ruins it all. I choose the music based on the feel of the day, rather than just sticking on the latest Ed Sheeran song. That could be a theatrical orchestra piece, or a dance track, but it’ll fit your wedding, and that's what’s important.” rafeabrook.co.uk rafeabrook.co.uk rafeabrook.co.uk rafeabrook.co.uk rafeabrook.co.uk rafeabrook.co.uk
