Create a seasonal spectacular with our stellar advice SUMMER LOV IN’ THROUGH THE LENS Tying the knot in summer lends itself to endless photo opportunities but we don’t want to be away from our guests for too long. In your opinion, what are the must-have shots? Becky says: The must-have shots are the bride and groom. It’ll take you away from your guests but gives you the perfect opportunity to spend a bit of private time together away from the hubbub of your day and allows you to soak it all in. Think about having your group photos taken near your guests so they feel part of your day. I’d stick to around five formal shots, one of which should be a group photo of all your guests so nobody’s left out. A good vantage point for the image such as a balcony or staircase can make the picture that bit more memorable – your photographer will have an eye for this sort of thing though so don’t worry Meet the expert: Becky Kerr | Photographer beckykerrphotography.co.uk Becky’s an experienced documentary-style photographer, capturing weddings in an unobtrusive way to produce stunning images that you’ll treasure forever. beckykerrphotography.co.uk BLOOMING BOILING Can you advise on the best flowers for summer weddings? I want a seasonal look and blooms that won’t wilt in the heat. Nicky says : To ensure that your flowers stay bright and perky throughout the day and night, you’ll want to choose flowers that’ll last. Roses are often used as the focal flower that takes centre stage and although you wouldn’t think it, they do thrive in hot and humid weather. Orchids are a good choice if you’re looking for bright blooms and other tropical flowers like anthuriums and birds of paradise can look beautiful from the morning through to the end of the night. Daisies, sunflowers and dahlias are also some of the most versatile out there. Bright, big and cheerful, they’ll bring life to your bouquet. You can also incorporate succulents and foliages, such as seeded eucalyptus, rosemary, and ivy to provide another dimension. Not forgetting gypsophila – it can be stunning on its own but also can be added to soften the look and style of the theme.
