There’s been a swing towards a statement dress with beautiful beading that can be worn with a standout hat. With so many nuptials taking place indoors, a jacket isn’t always necessary, especially for spring and summer weddings. Hat or no hat? It comes down to personal preference. It’s one occasion when the mother-of- the-bride or groom can wear an amazing headpiece but remember it’s important that they feel comfortable with the final look so they’ll ooze confidence on your day. Should mums match the bridesmaids? Generally your mums wouldn’t want the same colour as the bridesmaids as they’d blend in too much. Toning or contrast is a better option. Once the bridesmaid’s dresses are chosen, they have something to work around. Should the mother-of-the-bride and groom coordinate? It’s a good idea for the mums to liaise with one another so they don’t clash. It’s usual for the mother-of-the-bride to choose first, so speaking beforehand makes life easier. We often sell to both mothers and make sure they don’t choose the same colour but something that blends well with the bridesmaids. Are fittings and alterations offered? Lingerie can change the look of a garment so it’s a good idea to purchase that at the same time and take it to your fitting.
