REAL WEDDINGS 63  A mutual friend introduced Hannah and Steve. “We met at a go-karting session that was organised by our friend John,” recalls Hannah. “Steve almost crashed into me but to this day he still says he saved my life – we have a laugh about it now.” A few days later John arranged an away trip to watch Stevenage Borough FC in the play-off finals and invited Hannah and Steve along for the trip. “I was so nervous around him, which is unlike me! After the game I told John that I fancied Steve and without me knowing John gave him my number and Steve sent me a text. I’ll never forget the shock,” she says. “Without John’s meddling we might never have happened.” The duo hit it off and arranged their first date at a local bar. “It was honestly a bit of a disaster. I was very talkative but Steve was quite shy and reserved,” she says. Despite this, there was still clearly a spark, so Hannah asked for a second date, which was more successful! A HELPING HAND Five years later Steve proposed. “I’d always joked that I’d give him five years to ask me to marry him and he did just that! We’d gone to Brighton for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. It was the perfect surprise.” Their day took around a year to organise with the easiest thing to decide on being the venue. “As soon as we arrived at South Farm and saw it beautifully lit up, we both knew it was where we wanted to get married,” says Hannah. “The outside ceremony area was our dream and the team was so helpful from the minute we met them and throughout the whole process.” PRINCESS BRIDAL Hannah’s sisters helped with the dress shopping. “I tried on about six designs but nothing stood out. My sister then chose a gown for me to take a look at. I dismissed it until I was made to try it on and when I did, I just burst into tears,” she says. “I knew it was the one , I felt like a princess and it was so comfortable.” Hannah opted for smoky eyes with added sparkle and wore her hair in an elegant up do that was accessorised with a crystal hairpiece and a gorgeous cathedral-length veil. Hannah’s sisters and best friends were bridesmaids and were styled in pastel pink and grey hues. “Finding their dresses was so easy. They all cried when they tried them on – I was so happy they loved them!”
