Your Herts & Beds Wedding - Feb/Mar 2019 (Issue 72)

76 SHANE MAPLE, MAPLES FLOWERS Your ceremony’s the first vision of your day for guests to see so I’d recommend bringing your table centrepieces into this element by hiring plinths to stand them on. Make a statement with an aisle carpet sprinkled with petals and lined with cylinder vases containing artificial candles. For your venue, blossom trees look gorgeous surrounded by flowers at the base for that secret garden look. You could also hang guests’ names from them for your table plan. For your centrepieces I love to go high and have a really nice foliage arrangement surrounded by flowers in smaller jars so you have the high and low arrangement. Add candles to create a romantic feel all around your venue. KIMBERLEY HOLLINSHEAD, THE FLOWER BOUTIQUE Our favourite item of décor’s our moon gate – a fun twist on the traditional floral arch. It’s a statement piece that can be utilised in so many ways. It’s beautiful draped in luscious greenery, but also equally as stunning with pops of colour from other florals. Accessorise to add interest and accentuate the natural beauty of the venue. It’s fun to fill vintage bikes, milk churns, buckets and crates with blooms to really wow your guests and the best part is, it doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg! FLORAL DÉCOR CATHERINE ELWORTHY, ELWORTHY FLOWERS Re-use as much as you can! Ask your florist about moving arrangements between the ceremony and the reception. Moving the milk churns from the entrance to the church into to the marquee is a perfect job to give to your ushers, or take the aisle ends and tie them to the back of the top table chairs. Spend your money where it’ll have the most impact. For example, the top table backdrop is a focal point for a significant chunk of the day. For your tables tall arrangements look amazing and don’t get in the way for guests. Hang stems from the ceiling – hoops, beams and garlands can fill a space and really give the wow factor.
