Lauren and Matt met through work when they both embarked on the same graduate scheme straight out of university. “I’m from Leicester and Matt is from Liverpool so if it wasn’t for the graduate scheme, we probably never would have met,” Lauren says. “We were both very similar in terms of what we wanted out of life and what we enjoyed – mainly food and travel! For me, it was Matt’s accent that won me over!” The couple became engaged in a surprise proposal at The Ritz-Carlton in Bali on the 14th June 2018. “I like to plan every holiday down to the last detail and I had booked an evening meal at the hotel but on the way, Matt told me he had arranged for us to have dinner on the beach,” Lauren tells us. “I was grateful but concerned about whether we’d still be having the tapas menu that I was looking forward to! Matt assured me that we would still be eating tapas. We were driven down to the beach in a golf buggy where there was a beautiful pergola decorated with red rose petals, a stunning bunch of red roses and a bottle of champagne. Matt had arranged our personalised menu Aside from the ceremony itself which was as beautiful and emotional as we had hoped for, one of the parts of the day which stood out for me was our sunset photographs.
