Your Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Wedding- October/November 2020 (Issue 23)
We entertained guests with garden games on the lawn. A favourite of ours was a game that we had played in America called Corn Hole where you throw a beanbag through a hole in a wooden platform. A relative who is a carpenter made it for us and everyone loved it - we definitely saw some unexpected competitiveness when we watched the video! Our friends still want to play a game of it when they come to our house! As we got married on Easter Sunday, the obvious choice for favours were chocolate Easter bunnies that matched those on my hand-painted shoes! Our place names were the topic of much discussion during the meal! We both have qualifications in wine (although James is more knowledgable than me) so we decided on each table being named after a different grape with Nebbiolo, James’s favourite, as our top table. Our cake tasted delicious and also hinted at the Easter date with a bunny-themed cake topper! “I arrived at the venue early with some of my groomsmen and other friends and family members and spent a few hours making everything look perfect. Everyone really put themselves out to help and the outcome was stunning. I was a bit nervous about the ceremony but after that, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day with all the people I wanted there celebrating with us. Seeing all of our loved ones enjoying time together felt like a celebration of us. I thought I’d be nervous about my speech but when the time came, I wasn’t at all.” James I loved my hand-painted shoes by the designer Elizabeth Rose London, created especially for me. They featured the date of the wedding and a small easter bunny on the back, and were a talking point with our guests! REAL WEDDINGS 41
