Jessica says: There has been a big shift recently in bridal make-up artists becoming more ethically conscious. A google search of cruelty-free or vegan make-up artists in your area should show some contacts. If you’re struggling to find an artist in your area, reach out to any cruelty-free or vegan bridal professional whose work you like and ask for recommendations close to where you live or are getting married. I love connecting with other cruelty-free artists and would happily recommend them. If you’re thinking of doing your make-up on the big day and are new to a vegan lifestyle and plant-based diet then Superdrug is a great place to buy good quality vegan make-up products. They are clearly labelled and affordable so it’s a good way to start building up your new make-up bag. Luxury cruelty-free brands like Charlotte Tilbury, BECCA and Hourglass also offer a wide selection of vegan products. SEASONAL TIPS I am planning an intimate winter wedding. Do you have any hairstyles and make-up tips and shades that would work - I have long dark hair and olive skin? Holly says: I love winter weddings! I would recommend a low textured bun if you prefer your hair up and it’s best to keep it textured but not too messy so that you don’t lose any definition. Cascading Hollywood waves are a beautiful idea for long locks worn loose and dark hair will show them off. It’s important to care for your hair in the run-up to the wedding if you’re wearing this style so that it shines, and hair clips and accessories are not only trendy, they provide the perfect finishing touch to both styles. With darker make-up shades popular during the winter months, you can go to town with your big-day products. A warm brown smokey eye works well with olive skin and will make your eyes pop. Make sure you add some lashes - I prefer individual ones because you can add as many or as few as you like to create your desired look. Finally, if you usually wear natural make-up, I’d recommend choosing a subtle bronze or champagne-coloured eye shadow and try a deeper shade for your lipstick.
