Heather says: Good skincare ensures easy make-up application with staying power so I can't stress enough the importance of caring for your skin all year round, but especially in the months leading up to the big day. Wearing a product containing an SPF is an essential step to help prevent premature ageing. Don't wear this on your actual wedding day though, because it can cause a flashback effect in the professional photographs. If your skin is dry then choose products containing natural oils that will help replenish the natural moisture seal. For oily skin, use a moisturiser made with natural oils because it will hydrate the skin making it less likely to produce excess oil. It's always best to apply a moisturiser straight after showering when skin is already hydrated. Skin that's prone to acne will benefit from products that don't contain alcohol or fragrances because this can irritate it, stripping it of its natural oil. Don't expect overnight miracles – it will take a month or two in order to start seeing the benefits, and your skin will need that time to adjust. LUSCIOUS LOCKS How can I get my hair in great condition ready for my wedding? Suzanne says: Start preparing your hair with regular trims every eight to 12 weeks and treat yourself to some good quality professional products to get your hair in good shape. If you're having a colour applied, I would recommend having it done two weeks prior to the date of the wedding. If you aren't having a colour then consider a semi-gloss to give your locks extra shine. Once you have chosen your wedding dress, you can think about your hair trial and I would recommend having this three to four months before the wedding date. Remember to take any hair accessories and a veil with you (if you're wearing one) along with a photograph of your dress. It's important to leave the hair trial feeling confident that you have chosen the right style for you. If you're not sure then don't be afraid to ask for another trial – this is why it's a good idea to start the process a few months before. This meeting is also a good time to discuss hair styles for your bridesmaids and mother-of- the-bride if needed, and make a timeline for the day. It's a good idea to request that you hair stylist contacts your make-up artist to help work out a schedule. Additional treatments that I would recommend depending on your hair type are clip-in extensions, tape extensions, and a semi-permanent Kerastraight treatment that helps to straighten and repair hair.
