Jan specialises in elegant couture embroidery and creates one-off garments and accessories, in particular bohemian-style, fairytale pieces. Jan tells us how brides are opting for more sustainable and ethical materials when choosing their wedding dresses. “I now specialise in customising and embellishing for my label Something old... Something new and often this incorporates embroidery of their favourite flowers on to the dress. Brides are also more interested in making their dress or accessories personal and unique to them, so I offer various ways of achieving this, ranging from incorporating vintage treasures that may have belonged to a relative, to adding embroidered lines from a sentimental poem or a favourite song.” JAN KNIBBS @ ATELIER 19 60
