Your Glos and Wilts Wedding - Dec/Jan 2019 (Issue 18)
Elaine Morane, professional make-up artist based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, tells how skin health is a popular topic at the moment and how to achieve it. She says, “Christmas and the party season can really take it's toll on your skin so here are some skincare essentials to get you glowing again: • Use cleansing oil or balm to remove make-up and daily build up on the skin. Massage it in and remove with a soft face flannel. • Spritz a hydration mist like rose water, or use a serum containing hyaluronic acid to balance and strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier. • Glycolic acid will encourage radiance so alternate this product with salicylic acid that will control breakouts. • Apply a daytime SPF cream and a nourishing night cream for protection and to encourage repair. • Treat yourself to a course of facial treatments in the months leading up to your wedding that will help to exfoliate the dead skin cells. The results will be worth the extra effort when your make-up glides on perfectly and your skin is radiant for the big day!” Professional make-up artist Teresa Jolly based in Salisbury, Wiltshire, also shares her tips. She says, “steer clear of on-trend looks, a good example being block eyebrows. This will ensure that you aren't embarrassed to look back at your wedding photos in years to come! Pick a good quality mascara such as Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara from skincity.co.uk that will help add volume to lashes without clumping or smudging. If your make-up doesn’t stay in place all day, consider investing in a good primer from smashbox.co.uk and a setting spray such as the All Nighter long-lasting setting spray from urbandecay.co.uk to help keep it looking fresh.” Teresa stresses the importance of keeping a small touch up pack close to hand on the big day. “Include powder and a lipstick in this, or blotting papers to keep the shine away if you don’t like powder.” Teresa adds, “remember to smile and just enjoy yourself because you’ll always look amazing with a smile!” Professional make-up artist Heather Card suggests considering airbrush make-up for your wedding day. “It's light and gives full, flawless coverage plus it photographs beautifully,” she says. heathercard-makeup.co.uk 68
