Your Glos and Wilts Wedding - Dec/Jan 2019 (Issue 18)
We suspended flowers and ivy from the ceiling along with two large cartwheels adorned with blooms. We collected branches from trees and fixed them to the sides and ceiling of the marquee, then decorated them with lights and lanterns. I loved our bar that we made from recycled wooden pallets, decorated with lights.” - Lucy 44 L ucy and Mark met through mutual friends. “We had known of one another for years and one day, our paths crossed on a boat trip up the River Severn,” Lucy tells us. “We had so much fun that day so Mark asked me out on a date. We enjoyed a meal in a local pub and it became apparent that we had similar interests and were perfect for each other. I also thought he was handsome and charming yet clever and funny.” Mark tells us that he felt an attraction to Lucy as soon as he saw her on the boat. “She was beautiful, funny, witty and intelligent – everything I wanted.” The couple became engaged in a surprise proposal at Mark’s 40th birthday party. “We threw a large party for all of our friends and family and I suddenly noticed that Mark was missing,” Lucy explains. “He soon appeared in the marquee dressed in his tux holding a bottle of champagne and proposed to me then and there in front of everyone! It was amazing, the best surprise ever. We partied the entire night and everyone had a wonderful time.” Here, Lucy tells us about their marquee wedding styled with a pink, pale green and white colour scheme. We wanted a church ceremony and St. Mary’s Church was perfect for this. Our marquee reception meant that we had a blank canvas to add our decorative touches to, and my friends helped me style it.
