REGIONAL VENUES 17 S A L I S BURY & SOU T H W I LT SH I R E Spotlight on… Where to wed in this picturesque part of the region This 16 th -century thatched threshing barn, surrounded by 1000 acres of farmland and set in the heart of the picturesque Wiltshire countryside, offers an idyllic setting for a wedding. It features a large open space, with an oak barrel bar taking centre stage, plus two raised platforms for a band or DJ and a top table if required. Ceremonies can take place in a number of nearby village churches, with a civil ceremony licence available at the venue from spring 2020. Meanwhile, it accommodates up to 150 guests for the wedding breakfast and evening party, with scope to attach a marquee to the barn, providing even more space. There’s a designated field for parking and another one that can accommodate camping, and full site access is offered one day prior to the wedding. Bowerchalke Barn also has new in-house caterer, Barnett’s of Bowerchalke, which offers the best-quality produce sourced within a 20-mile radius of the estate. BURCOMBE MANOR, SAL ISBURY A little more than four miles west of Salisbury, this wedding venue is located on a 1,300-acre working farm that forms part of the Earl of Pembroke’s estate. The house itself is set in its own three-acre garden, offering complete privacy with an opportunity to erect a marquee on the manicured lawn. On entering the manor, guests are greeted with a large oak-floored hall and staircase, a comfortable sitting room and bed and breakfast accommodation in three bedrooms, two with en suite facilities. Ceremonies take place in two nearby churches, both within a five-minute drive, with the manor house and marquee accommodating up to 400 guests for the celebrations thereafter. A personalised touch is that the couple can design a bespoke menu, and for a romantic Insta-worthy backdrop, the house and gardens are floodlit in the evening. Ceremony licence?
