B ethany and Jack attended the same secondary school but met up again years later when she was training to be a teacher. “My mum and stepdad suggested I volunteer at the Tewkesbury Cricket Club, where my stepdad was the junior coordinator,” Bethany tells us. “I was partnered with Jack, who was also a teacher, as my co-cricket coach - it was meant to be. Neither of us had ever felt such a strong personal connection before that came so easily and naturally.” The couple got engaged in a surprise proposal on the 18 th February, 2017. “Both of our birthdays fall on the 18 th , so the date was well planned,” Bethany explains. “Unbeknown to me, Jack had been planning the proposal for a while, making notes on his phone after various conversations to help him choose the ring. He had asked for my parents’ permission, and as I got home from visiting my dad one evening, he was playing Oh! Darling by The Beatles. He asked me to dance and started saying such lovely things to me before getting down on one knee to propose, to which I thought he was joking, so I said ‘no’ at first! I quickly changed it to ‘yes!’ It was all such a wonderful blur.” Here Bethany tells us about their pastel wedding with a sporty feel… Bethany Brixey-Budhan, 29, married Jack Brixey, 28, on 9 th August, 2018, at Stonehouse Court Hotel in Stroud, Gloucestershire.
