Your Glos and Wilts Wedding - Apr/May 2019 (Issue 14)
REAL WEDDINGS 35 L isa and Ben met in 2008 through mutual friends, and on Ben’s 30 th birthday, during a trip to Las Vegas – while Lisa was pregnant with their second child – he planned a surprise proposal. “His present from me was a helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon,” Lisa tells us. “We landed deep in the heart of the Canyon for a celebratory lunch, and as I was admiring the view, I turned around and saw Ben holding a ring, asking me to marry him. It was a total surprise and so romantic.” As Ben proposed on his 30 th birthday, the couple chose the date of their wedding to be on Lisa’s 30 th for a double celebration. SETTING THE SCENE The couple were keen on having a barn wedding, but after looking at many different places, they finally decided on a venue that was suited to an October celebration because of the unpredictable Great British weather! “Tewkesbury Park ticked all the boxes for us,” Lisa explains. “It was local to our hometown of Cheltenham, had recently been refurbished to an exceptional standard and the breathtaking views across the Cotswolds were simply stunning and could be enjoyed by all through the wall of glass in the function room as we said our vows.” The couple chose a blush pink and grey colour scheme for their special day. “We had pink and white flowers and pearl beads decorating our table plan,” Lisa explains. “Our bouquets were filled with pale pink and ivory roses and gypsophila, and our three-tier, semi-naked cake was made with layers of Victoria sponge, lemon cake and carrot cake topped with pink and white flowers.” Lisa also had a 30 th birthday cake, which was a selection of different cheeses finished with an edible personalised figurine of her and embroidered with the words Mrs Remiszewski. “We had lots of personal touches incorporated in to our day, including Ferrero Rocher in laser-cut boxes because they are my favourite,” Lisa tells us. We had place names that were cut from wood to coordinate with these, and our table names were displayed in small white vintage frames. The couple chose to have an evening buffet with a night-at-the-fair theme. “We fed our guests burgers, hotdogs, doughnuts, toffee apples and candy floss,” Lisa says.
