Your Glos and Wilts Wedding - Apr/May 2019 (Issue 14)
Pauntley Court, Redmarley D’Abitot, Gloucestershire This privately owned historic house located on a rural estate in the Gloucestershire countryside – incidentally, the birthplace of Dick Whittington – recently launched as a wedding venue. It boasts formal gardens with far-reaching views across to the River Leadon Valley and beyond, and there’s a picturesque Norman Church, St John the Evangelist, in the grounds. Ceremonies are held there at the moment, with couples from outside of the parish of Pauntley allowed to marry there by visiting once a month for six months leading up to the wedding. The venue is in the process of applying for a wedding licence for ceremonies to be held there, and currently, blessings and humanist ceremonies can take place in the gardens and woodlands, with a special spot being down by the lake. A marquee reception can be held at the venue for up to 150 guests. Clearwell Castle, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire This multi-award-winning, exclusive-use wedding venue set in 20 acres of grounds is a picture-perfect fairytale wedding venue. There’s a cocktail terrace and croquet lawn outside, with grand reception lawns featuring open fires inside. There’s also The Library, The Drawing Room, a vaulted cellar bar, plus a Children’s Room equipped with a selection of games and toys. The jewel in the crown is the secluded lake, where couples can enjoy a private moment together and have their photographs taken. Civil ceremonies take place in the Ballroom for up to 150 loved ones, offering a church-like setting inside the castle. This room can also seat up to 150 guests for the wedding breakfast. ❤ We love… that there’s the option of having a three-day wedding weekend or a one day midweek wedding. There’s luxury accommodation available on the estate for up to 24 loved ones. ❤ We love… the mouthwatering menu choices and all-inclusive wedding packages available. Ceremony licence?
