FLOWERS 55 PLANNING SO DEAN ANDERSON AT SAINT CRISPIN BESPOKE MENSWEAR You’ll want to look good in wedding photos but watch out for poorly fitted suits which easily show up on camera! Jackets and sleeves that are too long or short, and trousers that hang in copious pleats around the ankles are some of the issues we see regularly. Hiring suits has, until recently, been a popular option for couples, and buying online seems like the obvious solution for many as it’s a cheap, quick and easy process; but it’s not quite that straightforward as finding the same style and correct fit for everyone is tricky. Buying on the high street isn’t much better, will all the groomsmen fit perfectly into them? Keep in mind that you’ll need to add in the cost of alterations to the final price which could add another £100 or more per suit. A far better option is bespoke tailoring; this cuts out all of the stress and worry of finding good quality suits with far more choices of fabrics to pick from. Expert tailoring will ensure all your groomsmen look and feel fantastic. For the groom, you might also wish to consider a waistcoat to stand out from the rest of the group where the suit’s lining colour can be carried through to the waistcoat for extra impact. If you’re at the beginning of your wedding journey, allow yourself plenty of time for planning and do not allow it to become a chore. If this starts to happen, take a step back and look into having a wedding planning consultation with an expert to help. My biggest piece of advice to newly engaged couples is to sit down together and make a list of your top three elements of the day; this could be music, food or your dress. This will give you a starting point and a clear vision of what’s important to you both – it will also help create a budget. Do some research on the average costs of suppliers so that it doesn’t come as a shock when you request a quote. If a quote you receive seems a little low, maybe do some further investigating and ask questions and check whether they have insurance. We all love a good bargain but if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. You don’t want to be taking risks on your wedding day. Just remember it is your wedding, don’t fall into the trap of trying to accommodate everyone else at the expense of what you want, and enjoy the planning process!
