Your East Midlands Wedding - April/May 2020 (Issue 37)

REAL WEDDINGS 31  an original 1920s blush pink feather cape for the evening.” To finish off the look beautifully, silver fern earrings were added to symbolise New Zealand as it’s a native sign to the country. The groom wore a textured dark blue suit that matched the groomsmen and to make him stand out, he went with a silver tie and a grey checked waistcoat. In the morning the bridesmaids each had personalised dressing gowns to get ready in, with matching pyjamas and slippers. They then transferred into beautiful silver dresses while the flowergirls wore handmade silver tutus along with white leotards.  TIME TO CELEBRATE  To entertain guests, a singer was booked to play throughout the ceremony and drinks reception. To get the party started, the pair choose to have a band and DJ. Victoria says: “The band are called Funk Soul Brothers and they managed to get everyone up on the dancefloor. The best part was when all of the guests had something to wear from the selfie booth, wigs, glasses, tutus, you name it someone was wearing it and everyone was dancing to the song  Jump Around  by House Of Pain.”  On the big day, Victoria felt calm with guests commenting on how she was one of the most relaxed brides they’d ever seen. However, not enjoying being centre of attention, Jamie, on the other hand, felt some nerves. However, that did little to dampen the excitement as Jamie’s sister was flying in from New Zealand to watch her big brother get married.  HONEYMOON  After having such an incredible day, the newlyweds jetted off to Iceland. Victoria says: “We were fortunate enough that all of our wonderful family and friends contributed towards our honeymoon as a wedding gift. I can see why this is becoming a popular trend, especially for couples who are already living together and have everything they need at home.” She adds: “Spending some time away together was just what we needed. Sometimes work and life can get a bit manic and spending quality time together can be very hard. We made so many exciting memories together on our honeymoon and can’t thank our friends and family enough for helping us.” The couples share their top tip when it comes to the big day, saying, “Make sure you trust the suppliers used and that their style is very similar to your own. Enjoy every moment; the day just vanishes and try to relax – at the end of the day whatever is going to happen will happen. The most important part of your day is getting married to the person you chose to spend the rest of your life with – nothing else matters.”
