If you’ve booked your venue, then the next thing you’ll be thinking about is how to style it. With so many options available, this can seem like a daunting task, but the most important thing to remember is that any space can be transformed with even the simplest of details. Luckily, we’re blessed in East Anglia with some incredibly talented suppliers, so the world’s your oyster. Begin by deciding on a colour scheme or theme for your day. Do you and your partner love the great outdoors or want to incorporate your favourite film series? There are lots of ways that you can run with a theme without it being over the top or tacky. If there isn’t a particular theme that stands out to you, opt for a colour scheme instead. Is blue your favourite colour? Why not incorporate the hue into your napkins, bridesmaids’ dresses and flowers, for example? Ask your venue for their suggestions on how to style the space; they’re the experts after all. When looking for a venue stylist, the best thing to do is reach out to companies that have created looks similar to what you envision. Ask to see images of their previous work and read reviews from previous couples to make sure they can deliver what they’re promising. To help give you some ideas, we’ve rounded up local stylists and asked for their tips for creating an on-trend celebration. Happy planning! NEWS Nearlywed All the latest from around East Anglia A DREAMY SETTING Cambridgeshire wedding venue Swynford Manor has been named ‘Romantic Wedding Venue of the Year’ at The Nation’s Wedding Awards 2024. With more than 250 finalists across 28 different categories, Swynford Manor was one of 10 venues in the UK to be shortlisted for ‘Romantic Wedding Venue of the Year’ – and the only one to be recognised from the Cambridgeshire region. Located on the borders of Essex and Suffolk in Newmarket, Swynford Manor boasts an impressive history dating back to the 1800s when the famous wordsmith Lord Byron was known to pen his romantic poetry under one of the trees within the seven acres of grounds. Now, the boutique manor house is an exclusive-use wedding venue with an elegant monochrome interior, plush furnishings and views across the Cambridgeshire countryside. Sian Parry, the venue manager at Swynford Manor, said: “To have walked away from The Nation’s Wedding Awards with the title of ‘Romantic Wedding Venue of the Year’ is a huge honour, especially considering the other amazing venues that were also shortlisted. The entire team at Swynford Manor works tirelessly to deliver unforgettable weddings to hundreds of couples every year, and we couldn’t be prouder to be recognised for our stunning venue that all our guests love. We look forward to seeing more couples get married in 2025 and providing them with the very best experience possible on their special day.” Discover more at www.swynfordmanor.com CONGRATULATIONS The Good Hotel Guide has revealed its annual list of Cé sar winners. The 20 Cé sars are given to hotels, inns and B&Bs that are considered outstanding in their particular category. Craig tells us: “Entering the Wedding Industry Awards 2025 for the first time, I was mainly looking forward to a fun evening of networking with the incredible wedding suppliers who make our industry so special. To my surprise, I qualified as a finalist in the ‘Best Wedding Photographer 2025’ category for the East of England, which felt like an achievement in itself. As the awards ceremony unfolded, I listened as Damien, our host, announced three highly commended recipients. When the final name wasn’t mine, I thought, at least I gave it a shot. Then, in the brief pause before the winner was revealed, the room fell silent, and I heard my name. I was completely stunned. Winning such a prestigious accolade felt surreal and deeply humbling. With the national awards coming up, in which all the regional winners are automatically entered, I’m holding onto that same sense of hope and excitement, dreaming big for what’s to come.” Head over to www.craiggreenwoodphotography.co.uk for more information. www.craiggreenwoodphotography.co.uk 8

DRESSED TO IMPRESS Tatty’s Original has opened its first studio selling custom wedding dresses for the more alternative bride. Owner Tiffany Crosson-Smith tells us: “I have been running my business for six years and have finally been able to open my own studio in a stunning location at Denver Windmill in Norfolk. I now have my own dedicated space for appointments. I am offering brides an incredible opportunity to be able to create their own wedding dresses in-store directly on their bodies. They will be able to try on a range of sample pieces to choose the elements of a dress that they like the best to create a personalised design. After their dream dress is designed, they can then customise any further elements and choose their fabrics before their one-off dress is handmade by myself, just for them.” Check out www.tattysoriginal.co.uk for more information. A SPECIAL GIFT Suffolk Shed is a metal art studio based in rural Suffolk. Owner Melanie Neilson tells us more: “We get inspiration for our work from nature and the picturesque countryside where we live, whilst bringing a touch of London’s urban vibrancy to our creative process and work. We craft hand-designed pieces, often inspired by my drawings and sketches, artwork or photos from our travels. From these designs we create our own files that are cut from steel, meaning any piece from us is individual and has a story to tell. Metal art makes an excellent gift because it’s something a bit different, it lasts, is hand-designed and adds a touch of country with an urban twist to any space. Decorate your wedding venue or home with our personalised wedding name signs, script metal words that can be placed or hung, table settings, chair backs and metal artwork in a selection of fonts and finishes. We offer individual pieces, or if you wanted a selection, we can create a package to suit your needs.” Exclusively for Your East Anglian Wedding readers, Suffolk Shed is offering a 15 per cent discount on its services. Lucy and Jack chose a green and white colour scheme for their big day at Haughley Park Images courtesy of Jonny Alexander EVER AFTER Lucy and Jack met through a mutual friend. “She introduced us eight years ago and she still likes to refer to herself as Cupid to this day,” says Lucy. “Jack proposed while we were on a break in Devon. We had a picnic on the beach at Durdle Door and watched the sunset when he popped the question. It was a massive surprise!” Read on to see some of Lucy’s favourite moments from their big day... Our happily REAL WEDDINGS 27

We wanted to keep the décor quite simple as we didn’t want to take too much away from the character of the barn. We fell in love with Haughley Park as soon as we set foot there, particularly with its beautiful grounds, house and charming barn. We loved that you had two days of access to the venue, as it took all the stress away. It made the wedding a relaxing and very exciting morning. Another great thing about Haughley Park is that it’s dog friendly and with us both not wanting to have our day without our labrador, Ralph, it was perfect that we could have him there with us. We had a white cake decorated with flowers from Holly Bakes and cupcakes to make it easier for everyone to grab a bit of cake. We chose a barbecue for our wedding breakfast and it was perfect for the theme of our day. The food from Jamie Lee Smith Catering was flawless. Our favours were scratch cards so people could have a bit of fun while at their tables. 28

Jack wore a charcoal grey herringbone tweed suit from Abitto with a green tie and pocket square. The whole day was the most amazing experience. Our bridesmaids picked their own dresses to match their style. We both felt really chilled on the wedding day and were so excited to see everything come together. To keep our guests entertained, we hired Phil, a magician who was a hit with everyone. We then had DJ Night To Remember play in the evening. Our friend is a karaoke queen and likes to finish the night off wherever she goes, so she performed her signature song, Wonderwall, for us all. For our honeymoon, we went to Bali for a week and then onto Thailand for two weeks, travelling around various places. We loved every second, but our highlight was definitely the elephant sanctuary in Phuket. I chose a fitted dress from Clare Bridal Studio with a bit of lace that carried on down to the long train. I accessorised with a cathedral-length veil and my mum’s earrings that she wore on her wedding day. Our freshly groomed dog Ralph decided to take himself for a swim in the nearest pond just before the ceremony and then shake himself off all over one of the bridesmaids! 29 REAL WEDDINGS
