Your East Anglian Wedding - October/November 2024 (Issue 69)

from wearing a veil. I felt very comfortable in it and that it was the one. I tried a few more on and then put this one on again, and I knew it was perfect. We didn’t know what it was called until I said yes to the dress. But as soon as we found out it was called Darcy, I cried because that was my family’s dog’s name, who we had to put to sleep a couple of months before the wedding. I felt like it was a nod from the universe and that it was meant to be. Since my dress came with an intricate lace cape that really set it off, I didn’t have to embellish it too much. Alterations By Brizia embellished the waist with a jewelled belt, which I’d never have thought to have done. I then wore a pair of pearl drop earrings and two bracelets, one of which was from my greatgrandmother. I finished the look with a pair of shoes that had a bit of sparkle on them.” Bradley chose a black tuxedo from Mr Mackys Mens Hire. “He knew he wanted to be smart and to wear something more elevated for our wedding,” shares Emma. “Given the styling of the venue, a tux just made sense. I must admit that seeing Bradley wear a tux was something else. “I had one bridesmaid, and she wore black,” continues Emma. “Her dress had a lace top with a satin ribbon around the waist and a plain black skirt. We wanted her to be comfortable and it also suited her and fitted well within the theme.” TIME TO CELEBRATE “We had a DJ in the evening who really started the party as well as a photo booth so people could have fun and take pictures,” explains Emma. “We felt this went down a storm, along with us providing glowsticks for the dancefloor, which went down a hit!” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “We felt on top of the world; we really felt our vision come to life, and we were excited to see it all come together,” recalls the bride. “I was a little nervous on the morning just because it was the anticipation of the day finally being here and also seeing Bradley’s reaction. Bradley was also nervous, especially while he waited for me to walk down the aisle. Once the ceremony was over, we had some time together, which was great as we could just be in our newlywed bubble before greeting our guests. Having Daisy, our labrador, be there for a short period of time made it extra special. “Our best man, Dave, anticipated that we were expecting by presenting us with miniature toy golf clubs just for us to find out two weeks after we got married that we were expecting our first child,” adds Emma. “The speeches that the father-of-the-bride, groom and best man gave were really special and sentimental. Matthew at Swynford Manor, who was our coordinator on the day, just made the day run smoothly. Laura, my maid-of-honour, who acted as MC too, really got everyone in the mood to party. All of our suppliers were incredible and we couldn’t have done it without them!” HONEYMOON “We went for a short mini-moon two days after the wedding at Lifehouse Spa & Hotel in Essex, where we took some time out to absorb everything that just happened,” reveals Emma. “We planned it ourselves, as we had been there before and knew it was the perfect place for rest and relaxation post-wedding.” 39 REAL WEDDINGS
