The grounds are a re-wilded magical valley, with Oak Avenue, leading to a stone circle. Chaucer Barn is a traditional Norfolk flint barn, built in 1836. The East wing is a contemporary conversion of the old flint milking parlour, featuring a two-story wall of glass which runs along the complete length of the west side in order to show off the stunning view over the main lawn, with it’s topiary pyramid forest and parkland with woodland behind. The tone of the award-winning Chaucer Barn is one of stylish informality, ranging from the cathedral-like space of the main hall to the contemporary chic of the pink sitting room. Filled with textiles and artefacts brought by the owner from far eastern travels. The layout is open plan, with many hidden corners for guests to relax. The conversion is a masterful juxtaposition of ancient and modern. For ceremonies, couples have plenty of al fresco options; the sheltered, sunken patio is a suntrap and host weddings of 80 guests; the main lawn (200) boasts formal grandeur beside, glorious herbaceous borders with jaw-dropping view of topiary and pyramid forest. Wildflower lawn (200) is informal and intimate with view of a living willow tunnel and heavenly wildflower garden. Woodland Grove (250), enter through a glorious wisteria tunnel, you will be completely surrounded by trees, wild and natural it’s the venue’s most popular ceremony area. Finally, the Stone Circle (150), is at the end of the oak avenue. In the middle of the circle, sitting on top of a massive upside-down tree stump known as The Druid’s Portal is a huge, crystal of Merlinite. Inside, the Main Hall is a stunning cathedral-like space of oak and stone for ceremonies with up to 100 loved ones. Post-vows, receptions take place in the East Wing (Winter 80, Summer 110) where guests can dine under the massive oak beam ceiling. With two open fires in winter and in the summer, extend out onto the patio under an elegant stretch tent canopy. Alternatively, a marquee can be position on the top lawn with its glorious view over rolling parkland, or below in the valley on the Wildflower Lawn.
