BLOOMING LOVELY Local venues with glorious grounds BEDFORD LODGE HOTEL & SPA, NEWMARKET 01638 663 175 | www.bedfordlodgehotel.co.uk The perfect blend of old and new, Bedford Lodge retains the charm and character of its former hunting lodge days, but with all the luxury and comfort of a modern boutique hotel. Surrounded by three acres of secluded rose gardens, the elegant white stucco Georgian house was built for the sixth Duke of Bedford and was converted into a hotel in the 1940s. The grand entrance and flower-filled pathways provide a picturesque backdrop and with formal lawns there’s plenty of great spots in the grounds for standout photos. The Classics Suite is the largest banqueting space and boasts a private garden with manicured topiary, perfect for al fresco ceremonies. You can host your whole day in the elegant room with up to 150 guests and the versatile space can also be adapted to suit more intimate weddings. We love… the wisteria-clad pillared walkway over the spa gardens, bursting with colour when it blooms in spring. THE WOODYARD AT WORSTEAD ESTATE 01692 536 226 | www.worsteadestate.com/weddings Once upon a time this rustic wedding venue was a sawmill. Sympathetically restored to reflect its past, a new chapter has now been added to its long history. Nestled in the 300-acre Worstead Park in Norfolk, it’s become a destination hotspot for newlyweds-to-be. At the heart of The Woodyard is the Thatched Barn, complete with vaulted ceiling, exposed brick walls and striking chandeliers – perfect for your whole day. Licensed for ceremonies you can say ‘I do’ and celebrate afterwards with up to 110 guests. Alternatively, if you’re looking for a blank canvas space to tie the knot, the light and airy Mulberry Room is ideal for the ceremony and wedding breakfast. A photographer’s dream, there’s plenty of outdoor space to enjoy, including a beautiful lake framing the Georgian buildings, a walled garden, not forgetting the scenic Norfolk countryside stretching as far as the eye can see. The gardens within the West Terrace still have original plants from the 17th century, including a 400-year-old mulberry tree, and the terrace is a wonderful spot for al fresco ceremonies, sundowners and reception drinks. We love… that the bride can make her grand entrance by boat and get married on the venue’s magical Lake Island with up to 50 family and friends. https://jamesrouse.com https://jamesrouse.com Video: https://mikesavory.co.uk Scan to view video VENUES 19
